Disclaimer: These are the unfiltered ramblings of a coach retracing the steps of his youth to conquer a second full-length Ironman triathlon a decade after his first.
With family still over, my regular routine is a bit thrown off this week, but I have so much to be thankful for. When we dried the wishbone, my wife and I both closed our eyes and made a great wish pulling firmly and a second later heard a large crack as BOTH of our sides broke evenly into three pieces. After doing a little research, it appears there’s a little controversy over what this rate event means, but I’m taking the consensus that both our wishes shall come true! Although I can’t say what my wish was, I’ll let you know if it comes true...
Anyway, this morning was a blur. After waking up at 1am, 3am, 4am, and then finally 5am, my internal clock was off a bit after the break. Instead of spinning in the morning, I’ll be doing my lift in the AM. Today was squats and abs, which I did with a coat on in the garage. No need to heat it for a quick pump of iron. Today when I get home, I’ll either hit the spin right away or just after putting out little one down (after I fix the flat).
I realise that this is week 7, and according to my ATP I should be upping the duration as the second week of Base 1. I’m not quite there yet to adding duration in the morning, but will have to start adding more mileage on the weekend. I should start to feel the fatigue after this week. My primary goal is still two months of activity. Although I’ve had some spotty weeks here and there, I’m still on track. This week I’m shooting for all green in my planned workouts. Now it’s off to conquer the day!
